While Ezra Coronado was taking his dad to get an eye exam and pick out a new pair of glasses, he pulled up to a My Eyelab retail location and was blown away by what he saw.
One of the first things he noticed was all of the customers, the friendliness and overall aesthetic of the retail franchise. During the eye exam stage, Ezra took out his phone and recorded the experience. He sent the video he took to his business partner, Scot Poole, right away.
Scot and Ezra were familiar with the franchise world. They had owned multiple telecom franchises before. However, they were looking for something fresh and exciting to start up together. One thing that both of them had noticed straight off the bat was that they didn’t see a lot of eye care retail stores around them.
Fast forward a few weeks after the initial visit Ezra made with his father, and Scot and Ezra were on the phone with the My Eyelab franchise team looking to become franchisees and open multiple locations of their own.
Process of Becoming a Franchisee Owner
The business partners’ journey to opening their My Eyelab franchises started with the real estate process. The My Eyelab real estate team first helped Scot and Ezra understand what type of site they should be looking for. After that, the team helped the duo pinpoint real estate opportunities in the markets where they were looking to develop their footprint.
Once the locations were finalized, My Eyelab brought in their design team, approved the layout and then Scot and Ezra began the buildout.

“We run retail hours, so we make it really convenient for people who are juggling life, family and kids. Everything that goes on in life,” Ezra pointed out.
Scot and Ezra’s sole purpose for this retail franchise was to make it convenient for their customers to come in and do business with them without having to break the bank. A retail eye care franchise that was affordable to all as well as trendy and up-beat were both important factors to Scot and Ezra while they were looking to become franchisee owners.
They knew that in order to be successful they had to run a great front-end retail shop while My Eyelab provided support for the back-end logistics. The ability to focus on the front-end and provide an amazing customer experience is what has generated strong word-of-mouth marketing and continues to builds local brand affinity for Scot and Ezra’s stores.

Scot and Ezra have opened and expanded to five My Eyelab locations since then. They had done this by hard work and dedication to grow their business by offering their customers more accessible locations to fit their needs.
During Scot and Ezra’s entrepreneurial journey, they recognized the importance of being aligned with the My Eyelab culture.

This goal has been attainable because Scot and Ezra continue to develop accessible alternatives to the competition.
